Singer dies after apparent 'electrocution' at French festival

Barbara Weldens died while performing at a festival in the southwest of France yesterday.

A POPULAR FRENCH singer collapsed and died while on stage at a music festival yesterday.

Barbara Weldens (35) was performing at the Festival Leo Ferre in the Lot region of south-west France yesterday when it is thought she was electrocuted by some equipment on stage.

Paramedics attempted to revive the woman, according to Europe1, but they were unsuccessful.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident and have urged all concert-goers to hand over any video or photographs they may have taken at the performance.

The organisers said in a statement: “It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Barbara Weldens at a concert last night in Gourdon in the Lot.

“Our team is deeply disturbed by her death.

“She was a radiant woman, full of energy and talented, and of course we are thinking of all her family and her loved ones.”
